Training for Teams

When it comes to a conflict, prevention is better than the cure. That is where a Conflict Management Training (CMT) comes in.

CMT helps equip individuals, teams and organizations with the skills for engaging and resolving disagreements, building trust and communication, and creating a conflict free work environment. Through training, individuals will learn how to identify and intervene to prevent potential disputes or misunderstandings from escalating into full-blown conflicts. Additionally, individuals and teams will gain an understanding of how to de-escalate existing conflicts and create an action plan for future conflicts. The ultimate goal is to create a work environment free of conflict and able to handle any disagreements that occur in a well-defined and calm manner.

The training is customizable for:

  1. 1:1 with Business partners (Joint Ventures, Mergers & Acquisitions etc.), investors or distributors.
  2. Leaders and managers to manage conflicts in their teams.
  3. (Multicultural) teams dealing with colleagues from other cultures.

Introduction: Conflict Management

Members of your team reflect on difficult situations they are currently facing or have faced in the past. They’ll talk about times when they avoided conflict or handled it poorly. It could be due to e.g. not knowing how to resolve a conflict on their own or in other cases, not being culturally aware to deal with conflicts with people of other cultural backgrounds. Examples include having to competition between team members, difficulties in communication, lack of trust and power struggles.

Emotional Intelligence Exercise: Management of Emotions:

Being involved in a conflict can be unpleasant. We can become frustrated and have difficulty letting go. Such feelings, even if not expressed verbally, can be harmful to ourselves and our relationships. Your employees will learn how their emotions influence their behaviors as well as effective strategies for managing their emotions.

Dealing With Difficult Employees: Recognizing Difficult Behaviors and Responding Appropriately

This exercise will help teams recognize and respond to difficult behaviors is role-play simulations. Team members can be given a scenario with a difficult situation and must come up with a plan for resolving the conflict. They can then present their ideas to the group and have their peers evaluate the proposed strategy. This allows teams to gain insight into how they would manage similar conflicts in the future and improve their problem-solving skills.

Conflict Anatomy Exercise: Conflict Debunked

This exercise will look at the different stages of conflict and encourage learners to recognize what conflict looks like in the workplace. Your team will investigate what happens when conflict is not managed and will be able to identify common behaviors and signals. Your team will identify conflict earlier and be better prepared to mitigate and manage such scenarios by revealing the phases of conflict through the use of a typical office-based case study.

The Blame Game: How to Resolve Conflict

A group exercise that demonstrates how destructive a blame culture can be while also encouraging learners to develop empathy as a method of conflict resolution. In a multicultural company under new management, teams are assigned specific tasks and seek to solve problems through empathy, questioning, and collaboration.

5 Approaches to Managing Conflict: Conflict Management Styles

Team members learn multiple conflict resolution strategies as well as when to use each strategy. We look at five conflict resolution strategies, adapted from the Thomas-Kilmann Instrument: accommodating, avoiding, compromising, competing, and collaborating.

Having Courageous Conversations: Planning Effectively
